YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Q- How often should l have my carpets cleaned?

A- Most manufacturer’s recommend that you have your carpets professionally cleaned every 12 months for main area’s such as lounge’s, hallways and stairs etc. Bedroom’s should be cleaned every 2 - 3 years according to how much use they receive.

Q- How often should l have my upholstery cleaned?

A- Again the majority of manufacturer’s would say every 18 - 24 months.

Q- How long will it take my carpet to dry?

A- Most carpets are dry within 2 - 4 hrs and can usually be walked upon straight away as long as you do not walk dirt from outside onto a damp surface. The exact time depends on what your carpet is made of and how long the pile is. Generally speaking the shorter the pile the quicker it will dry and man made fibres tend to dry quicker than pure wool carpets. If the room is warm and well ventilated this will also speed up the drying process.

Q- My carpet is stained will it come out completely?

A- If a stain is black in colour this is usually the result of a spillage that has caused a sticky patch on your carpet which attracts dirt. This sort of stain almost always comes out completely. Problem stains are the highly coloured one’s. If your carpet has been stain proofed from new these will usually come out completely. However if your carpet is mainly made of wool these types of stains can be much improved but not always completely removed. In general wool carpets appear to stay cleaner longer as the natural fibre absorbs the dirt. But they are less stain resistant. Manmade fibre’s such as acrylic are more stain resistant in that most stains clean out easier but they show general soiling much quicker and therefore need cleaning more often.

Q- Do l need to empty the room before it is cleaned?

A- No. If you can take the small things of the floor we will move the main furniture. Things such as bookcase’s that lay flat on the carpet are better cleaned around as the carpet will not dry unless the air can get to it and it may smell. We recommend that any valuables or anything fragile such as pottery or vase’s should be taken out of the room to avoid any accidental damage.

Q- Does your cleaning process remove dust mites, stale smells etc?

A- Yes we have special treatments for all manner of problems pertaining to carpets & upholstery and will be happy to advise you on your best course of action. Removing these problems is only part of the process to do the job properly we need to make sure they don’t return so helping to determine the cause is an essential part of our service.

Q- What if l want my carpet or upholstery stain proofed?

A- We can provide this service but we would like you to be aware that with certain fibres these treatments actually make very little difference. If your carpet is acrylic or you upholstery is made of dralon then we would advise against this treatment as the additional cost is not in our opinion justified. Also the older a carpet becomes the fibres fray and are much more difficult to seal so because of this unless your carpet or upholstery was treated from new you should be aware that the stain protection may have a limited effect.
